Kristina Doan Strottman

Kristina Strottman handles civil rights, general liability, and employment litigation in state and federal court, as well as administrative hearings.

Ms. Strottman focuses on representing peace officers and public entities in litigation relating to allegations of wrongful conviction, use of force, deliberate indifference to medical needs, and First Amendment issues. She also defends employers against claims for discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination, and advises law enforcement agencies on various personnel matters.

Ms. Strottman works on all stages of litigation, including successfully defending dismissals at the Ninth Circuit and California Court of Appeal. Her representation has included the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the Regents of the University of California, City of Los Angeles, City of Alhambra, City of Hemet, County of Orange, County of San Bernardino, GEO Group, Management & Training Corporation, and their employees.

Before joining Burke, Ms. Strottman served as a law clerk for the Honorable John Ramsey Johnson at the District of Columbia Superior Court, where she worked on civil and criminal matters over the course of her two-year clerkship, Ms. Gruenberg received her J.D. from American University. During law school, she was a Note and Comment editor for the Administrative Law Review and authored No Child Left Behind Waivers: A Lesson in Federal Flexibility or Regulatory Failure?, 60 ADMIN. L. REV. 211 (2008). Ms. Gruenberg earned her B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she served as student body vice president and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
